We Want to Introduce Disc Golf to America's Youth

Founded by perennial top 10 player and two time PDGA World Champion, Ricky Wysocki, the Wysocki Foundation is a grassroots charity with a clear mission:
to introduce disc golf to America’s youth.

With a unique, three-phase approach to spreading the sport across the country, the foundation aims to make a lasting impact on the next generation of players while fostering a love for the game that will extend far beyond the course.

PHASE ONE

“FIRST PUTT” INITIATIVE

Launched in February 2022, the "First Putt" initiative marks the beginning of the Sockibomb Foundation’s efforts to introduce disc golf into schools nationwide. The program focuses on identifying teachers who are interested in integrating disc golf into their physical education curriculum and then provides them with much-needed resources at no expense. Packages vary based on the individual needs of each school but typically include putters and portable baskets.

The “First Putt” initiative has already made a significant difference in bringing disc golf into the classroom. As of Jan 1st 2025 they have delivered 120 packages to schools in all 50 US States and Canada. They have also partnered with other touring pros such as Gannon Buhr, Kristen Tattar, Calvin Heimburg, Missy Gannon, Andrew Presnel, Paige Shue, Alden Harris and Matt Bell who all have helped to increase the impact of the program.

It’s not just about providing free equipment—it’s about giving kids the opportunity to try something new, be active outdoors, and develop an appreciation for a sport that’s growing in popularity across the country.

PHASE TWO

“Youth Academy” Project

Building on the success of the “First Putt” initiative, the Sockibomb Foundation is taking its mission to the next level with the development of its first-ever “Youth Academy” location in Kansas City, MO. Slated to open later this year, the academy is designed specifically for young players and newcomers to the sport.

The academy will be ideally suited to host a wide range of programs and opportunities, including lessons, leagues, and tournaments. The course is uniquely designed to accommodate various levels of play, with holes that range in distance and difficulty. The design includes multiple basket locations and shot shapes, ensuring the course challenges players at different stages of development. The goal is to create an environment where young players can learn the game, practice their skills, and grow into confident and competitive disc golfers.

The Youth Academy is expected to serve as a model for future facilities, with plans to replicate this concept in other disc golf cities across the country.

PHASE THREE

Club Partnership Program

The Wysocki Foundation’s Club Partnership Program aims to further strengthen relationships with disc golf clubs across the United States. The purpose of this program is to develop close collaborations that support the growth of youth disc golf at a local level. The foundation seeks to empower clubs to play an active role in spreading the sport to schools and organizations in their communities.

Through the Club Partnership Program, clubs will help distribute and manage “First Putt” resources to local schools. In addition, clubs will work with the foundation to develop new “Youth Academy” courses and establish youth leagues, offering young players the chance to experience organized play much like in other mainstream sports.

The program also opens the door for joint fundraising efforts, allowing clubs and the Wysocki Foundation to work together to secure resources that benefit the growth of youth disc golf nationwide.
